INterest Meeting: Nov. 1st

WHERE DO I START?
  1. ​Read over the job responsibilities you would have as a volunteer (see below). If this is something you're interested in...
  2. See Ms. Tu or Ms. Foung in the CJHS Media Center.
  3. Print out the community service packet, fill it out and submit the packet to the guidance office.
  4. Start your volunteer service!

WHEN CAN I VOLUNTEER?
  • Most days you can volunteer before school and/or after school:
    • Before School: Monday through Friday ~ 7AM to 7:20AM ~ 20 min. service time 
    • After School: Tuesday through Thursday ~ 2:20PM to 3:00PM ~ 40 min. service time
  • Volunteer schedules are extremely flexible: You can come whenever you are available.
DOES THIS COUNT TOWARDS COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS?
Yes! 

WHAT ARE MY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AS A VOLUNTEER?

Daily Duties
  • Shelve books 
  • Shelf read (Make sure books are in order in each section)
  • Assist with new book processing (stamping, labeling, organizing the books)
  • Prepare computer labs for classes
  • General organization of the media center
Special Projects (optional)
  • Destiny Book Reviews
  • Library displays and bulletin boards (Artwork)
  • Promote library contests & events on social media
Leadership Opportunities (optional)
  • Promote reading through book trailer creation
  • Lead an informal bookclub
  • Survey your classmates
  • Assist with the Follett Challenge competition – promote the library through a video about “What does innovation look like in your school or district?”
